Vegan Guide To London

We were lucky enough to spend a couple of days in this grey, cold but oh so vibrant, exciting and beautiful city! London is no stranger to vegan food and the deliciousness is so overwhelming that we'll need a couple of visits more to discover everything there is!

Our lovely local guide (and my sister!) Szaga gives us an overview of what there is to discover and to love:

Wulf&Lamb

Wulf and Lamb is an all-vegan restaurant where you can grab a quick lunch or dine in.

We've had some heart-warming comfort food such as the mac n’ cheese, the Wolf Burger and the Chocolate cake which were all delicious. You are welcomed by a very friendly staff and the interior is very stylish and filled with cookbooks!

Merkamo

Old Spitalfields market is a big covered courtyard with plenty of shops and a couple of vegan food stands.

Merkamo is a vegan ethiopian food stand with plenty of options: you can get a colour palette of all kinds of veggies, the taste and staff are amazing and definitely worth the visit.

Mooshies

Close to Old Spitalfields, you find the famous Brick Lane where there are plenty of Indian cuisine, second hand and vintage stores and also this wonderful fast food place. We had cheese sticks and sweet potato fries to still our afternoon craving.

Drop by to indulge on this warm, droopy vegan goodness!

What the Pitta

Located in Boxpark, an indoor town of food and (pop-up) shops, right next to the Shoreditch High Street overground station is What the Pitta.

There are plenty of food places with clearly indicated vegan options, so you are sure to find something you like.

In this all-vegan snack, you can enjoy a big vegan döner kebab with fries or onion rings and vegan baklava to top it off.

Salaam Namaste

An Indian restaurant with a welcoming staff that guided us through their vegan options (as listed by the chef): we had okra and mango, a spicy vegetable stew, grilled aubergine, rice and papadoms. When we told about our blog, we were happy to hear they are working on a more vegan-friendly menu - where they'll use coconut milk instead of gee - so in the near future it should be an even bigger treat.

Cruelty-Free & Zero-waste Products:

Suneeta London

Suneeta is a vegan cosmetic family business and the products are handmade by Suneeta herself. It’s all natural and their range includes products for hair, body and face for him and her. She uses the ancient philosophy of Ayurveda as her guideline and as a result the products are amazing and smell great.

It’s a very small but charming authentic shop you have to look for in the Brixton village.

What is great is that you can bring your own containers and they’ll fill it up for you.

We can’t wait to go back!

Culture:

Victoria & Albert and The Barbican

These two art institutes are first of all both amazing.

If you find yourself hungry in any museum, don't worry! In the V&A, you can choose a daily main course and add two sides. We enjoyed an open sandwich with artichoke and sun-dried tomatoes with coleslaw and a salad with lentils and broccoli and topped it off with a raspberry drizzle cake.

In the Barbican Kitchen, there are wraps, soups and warm course of the day (like the vegan lasagna we had!). Plant-based milks - as almost everywhere in London - are easy to find!
